July 18, 2016 - South Broadway running through the town of Hicksville in Long Island, NY will be the scene of the India Independence Day Parade on Saturday, August 6, 2016.

B-grade Bollywood star Bobby Deol is Grand Marshal for the 2016 India Independence Day Parade.

The parade will start at 11AM from 415 South Broadway Patel Brothers Plaza on Broadway and ends at E. Barclay Street, Hicksville, NY.

Expect the parade to have several floats highlighting India and its culture.

Telugu Crook Aramalla gets 36-Month Prison Term

March 26, 2015 - Port Washington resident Purna Chandra Aramalla must spend three years in prison for defrauding Medicare, Medicaid and the New York State funded AIDS Drugs Assistance Program by buying and selling illegally diverted prescription drugs.

Aramalla carried out his fraudulent activities through two pharmacies he operated in Queens and Bronx.

In addition to his prison term, 67-year-old Aramalla must pay $7.5 million in restitution, forfeit another $7.5 million, file amended tax returns from 2010-2012 and pay back taxes and applicable penalties.

Aramalla must surrender at the Schuylkill prison before 2PM on May 11, 2015 to start serving his sentence.

Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said:
Purna Aramalla's prescription drug diversion scheme defrauded millions of dollars from programs established to provide health care assistance for the elderly and indigent. The scheme also jeopardized the health of anyone induced to sell his or her prescription or medication, and anyone who unwittingly purchased repackaged drugs.
Aramalla's prison term must serve as a warning to other Indians looking to get rich on criminal activities.

July 27, 2014 - Purna Chandra Aramalla has pleaded guilty to Healthcare and Wire fraud after initially pleading Not Guilty.

Aramalla has agreed to pay $7.5 million to the U.S. government from the proceeds of his offenses.

Aramalla's sentencing day has been fixed for November 19, 2014.

This crook deserves to spend time in prison.
